After attending a Conti performance in Los Angeles , Zan Stewart, the highly respected Los Angeles Times jazz critic commented on Conti’s technique:
“Robert Conti was dazzling, enough technique for two men!”
As seen in numerous videos from the 1960s through today, Robert Conti executes complex lines at upper level tempos flawlessly and with great ease as a result of developing a precision technique.
You can develop your right and left hand the same way Robert Conti learned for unrivaled ability and control of the guitar. Throughout his career, major music critics and fans have continuously written volumes of rave reviews and press notices about Conti’s technical facility. In line with his teaching philosophy that you learn to play jazz guitar by playing jazz guitar, it follows that right and left hand technique is essential. If you can’t physically play the jazz lines you’re learning, they won’t do you any good. Technique is the currency of playing and without it, you’re broke.
But Will It Work For Me?
Yes! Robert Conti’s technical skill is the verifiable result of the time-tested blueprint he presents in this DVD and book. Follow the same path to develop your technical chops.

The Precision Technique Includes:
The Precision Techniques has helped me hone my technique tremendously and like every Robert Conti Book with CD it is extremely practical and gets you running in the real world playing while mastering the theory as you go so it is extremely efficient and all-encompassing and frankly, better than the dozens of books and classes that I’ve tried. It is a brilliant approach.
I've just begun to delve into the material. However Robert's explanations on how he sees the best approach is easily understandable. I will be getting into this very soon. Again thank you.
This course has not only improved my picking technique and speed, but it has also improved my reading skills. When I began practicing the exercises I realized that my notation and tab reading skills were slowing me down when learning new songs. I now move to different positions as song keys change much easier than before. I will never play as fast as Robert Conti, but this course has definitely improved my chops. The exercises have become part of my daily warm-up and practice routines.
Thanks for the nice review Terry! It's not about being as fast as Conti, it's just about taking the right steps to improve your skill by leaps and bounds in the shortest amount of time possible - carry on :-)
As a player who has been shredding for 23 years in various areas of metal, I found my chops insufficient for playing jazz. I’ve just gotten the first exercise down and already I'm experiencing a totally different mindset. As other reviews stated, Robert's fingering system is a HUGE upgrade to even experienced shredders skill set. Robert wants us to be able to bar fast melodies cleanly and sync up our right and left hand perfectly and I'm all for it. Cant wait to dive in further.
It's nice to find an instructor who understands that practice doesn't have to be boring!
I pick up ideas from the right and left techniques of the different lessons, I have progressed at the technical level of the chords, I like the approach and the philosophy by Robert Conti. I'm French so sometimes I strain my ears to understand the wise advice but with patience it's fine. thank you again
Someone who teaches how to play rather than memorize. What a concept!
